The Ballyfin School Choir has been a great asset to the musical enrichment of its pupils.
The choir has quite a lot of achievements to date.
Ballyfin N.S along with St. Pauls,Portlaoise, gave wonderful performances in the Dunamaise Theatre in Portlaoise and in the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore .
The choir , under the direction of Emer McLoughlin has also competed at local level and has taken part in the Cór na nÓg.
Six of our pupils were selected to participate with pupils from all over Ireland in the National Concert Hall.
Apart from liturgical commitments of Communion,Confirmation, school masses and carol services, the school also performed carol singing annually in the Kyle Shopping Centre in Portlaoise.
The choir has also performed in the Hallelujah Choir Festival in the R.D.S.
The choir also entertained the multi- denominational service attenders with a rendition of well known carols.
Choir practice is a fun class and when children enjoy a class, they perform to the best of their ability and the result is music to the ears!!
In December 2017, the choir performed a rendition of carols for the lighting of the Christmas tree in Ballyfin National School. Santa also came to visit that night. We had great fun!!!
We are currently rehearsing for Confirmation which will take place on March 14th 2020, followed by Communion rehearsals which will take place on 23rd May 2020.
