Ballyfin National School is situated in the village of Ballyfin in County Laois. Ballyfin is a small village in the foothills of the Slieve Blooms, located between the towns of Portlaoise and Mountrath. The school caters for boys and girls of primary school age from the parish of Ballyfin and its hinterland. The current school building was built in 2008 and is modern and light-filled as a result.
The school currently has 214 pupils, with nine mainstream class teachers, three Special Education Teachers, four Special Needs Assistants, a full-time school secretary and an administrative principal.
The school motto is 'Be proud' and we are very proud of our warm, welcoming and supportive school atmosphere, our broad and holistic curricular provision, and our place at the heart of the community in Ballyfin.
