Green Flag Award Ceremony 2024
On Monday May 13th 2024, Mrs Milne, Mrs Conroy, Juliet Carroll and Sean Meade travelled to the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny to collect our 6th Green Flag, 'Global Citizenship: Litter and Waste'.
Green Schools Flag Ceremony
On Wednesday the 24th, we went to the Green Schools Flag Ceremony at the Hudson Bay Hotel in Athlone. We left the school at 11,30am and arrived at 12.30pm.
When we went into the hotel we were early so we had to wait around for a while. We registered first and then got something small to eat. When we were finished we went and got out picture taken with the Green Schools mascot.
Then we got soup, sandwiches and chips. After we ate we sat around and enjoyed the environment until the ceremony began. When it was time, we went into the conference room and sat down.
We were introduced to the co-ordinators of the Green Schools programme, and then the ceremony started. We were not waiting long before we got our flag. When we received our flag we shook hands with the director Michael-John. We wer thrilled to have received our flag and we walked back to our seats. Shortly after the ceremony was over, we got a few pictures taken with Mieke as without her we wouldn't have got our flag. We also got pictures taken with Mrs. Kelly, our schools co-ordinator.
We left Athlone at about quarter to three and arrived back at the school at about quarter to four. We enjoyed the day very much and we can't wait to raise our flag!

On Tuesday, May 26th two members of the committee and two teachers travelled to Athlone for the Green Flag awards ceremony. We were joined by other schools from Laois, Longford and Westmeath. We were treated to a lovely lunch before the ceremony and we made a wish and hung it on the Wishing Tree. Photos from our Blue Day were displayed on a big screen for everyone to see. When Ballyfin NS was called out we went up to receive our flag and certificate. We were very proud.
