Yoga as Gaeilge 2020
Ciarán visited our school and 2nd to 6th class had a yoga lesson as Gaeilge. It was a great way of learning new words as well as taking a moment in the busy school day to stretch, relax and unwind.
Blue for Laois (March 2020)
On Friday the 6th of March, all the boys and girls in Ballyfin NS gave a big blue welcome to some of the well-known Laois Hurlers following their success over the last season. We were delighted that they brought in the Joe McDonagh cup.
The hurlers that came to visit us were Paddy Purcell, Mark Kavanagh and Ross King. They told us all about playing for their county and the commitment that is needed to play at such a high level. They really did inspire the boys and girls and hopefully in years to come some of our current pupils will be able to bring the Joe McDonagh cup back to Ballyfin again. Congratulations to all involved.

Interview with rachel blackmore
On Monday 31st May 2021, 6th Class joined in on a zoom call with Irish jokey Rachel Blackmore. It was part of the ‘Inspiring Ireland’ interview series with influential Irish people. These interviews aim to inspire young people through real life stories. We learned so much from this interview. She spoke about her success, her background, how she got into the sport and how she picks herself back up after failures. We look forward to meeting our next participant.
